Mia DeLuccia

Therapist

Since a young age, I was always interested in health, science and how the human body works. It wasn’t until high school as a three-season and frequently injured runner that I was first exposed to physical therapy as a potential career. I loved the idea of having in-depth knowledge of the human body but also being able to get to know people on a personal level and help them achieve their goals.

I graduated from Simmons College’s accelerated Doctor of Physical Therapy program in 2019. During my time at Simmons, I completed several unique internships in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of patients from people with orthopedic and complex neurological diagnoses to veterans in an acute care hospital. I was also a member of the Simmons cross-country team and continued racing during the off-season. After graduating, I started my career working in an acute care hospital, where I gained experience evaluating and treating patients with complicated medical diagnoses. I even had the unique (and somewhat terrifying) experience of working in a hospital during a pandemic. However, after working inpatient I found myself missing the outpatient setting and wanting a new challenge, which led to my decision to join the OP team!

In my free time, I’m very active and still an avid runner. I love to go hiking in the White Mountains, ride my bike, and try out new types of exercise. My favorite thing to do is travel, especially to places where I can hike and enjoy nature. I have a hard time sitting still, but when I can, I’m probably learning a new song on the piano, reading a good book, or watching a bad reality TV show. I’m very excited to grow my skills as a therapist while helping others achieve their goals.
